What’s Really Going on With Windows 8?

We all know that these days, guys at Microsoft are very busy preparing the next major version of their Windows family. Recently, they have finished the 2nd milestone of Windows 8… But that’s also leaked news! This time they are very strict about leaking information to the press. To tell you the truth, in Windows 7, we received a load of leaked info and screenshots at this stage. But what’s happening with Windows 8? It’s a big mystery!

In Windows 7, we got the first public beta with their third milestone. But in Windows 8, we can’t say what will happen. Recently, at the CES, Microsoft officially announced that Windows 8 is going to support ARM and SoC (System on a Chip) devices. This will take it beyond our normal x86 and x64 processors to things like the ARM-based devices built by NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.

Another leaked source has mentioned that Windows 8 is going to have a brand new graphics system which is said to have more Silverlight on it. But, these facts are unofficial! The biggest problem is we have no much information to tell you what they are really cooking in those lab…
Are they cooking something big and innovative which could change the whole world? Well, if that’s the case, then secrecy might be the best policy! But still, we cannot say anything until we get the public beta! So, what do you think? What are they doing with all these secrecy? Will we ever get a public beta?

Facebook for old Ager?

I was reading somewhere that, In Atlanta, a shy quiet 14-year-old boy that I’ll call Katlay. he wasn’t particularly interested in talking to me, but he answered my questions diligently. he said that he was on both MySpace and Facebook, but quickly started talking about MySpace as the place where he gathered with his friends. At some point, I asked him if his friends also gathered on Facebook and his face took on a combination of puzzlement and horror before he exclaimed, “Facebook is for old people!” Of course, Mr. Kalyan still uses Facebook to communicate with his mother, aunt, cousins in Kentucky, and other family members.

Cross-town, I met up with Connor, a well-spoken 17-year-old who is more than comfortable in sharing his opinions with me. His manner of speaking and attitude means that he would’ve fit into Eckert’s “jock” category even though he plays no sport. In fact, Connor is more interested in gadgetry (Macs to be precise), but that no longer has the same geek ring as it once did. Connor tells me about how Facebook is the new thing that everyone is using and that, while he prefers MySpace, he now primarily logs into Facebook. His girlfriend deleted her MySpace profile and most of his friends now spend their time on Facebook. In fact, he can’t think of anyone at school who still actively uses MySpace. Connor is also aware of the presence of adults on Facebook. He messages with his mother and his youth pastor on Facebook and he waxes elegantly about how he thinks that Facebook is just as popular among adults as it is among teens. He believes that the reason that people switched to Facebook was because it was more “mature.”

Yet, there’s another important factor here. These teens come from very different demographics. Both teenagers are white and live in the deep south, but they are from different socioeconomic backgrounds and their public schools have quite different characters. Kaitlyn’s family income is near the median of Atlanta while Connor comes from a family that is better-off. Both have had many different opportunities afforded to them by loving and deeply involved parents. The biggest differences in their lives stem from their friend groups and the schools that they attend.

Connor was lamenting the presence of filters in his school (coupled with the sign in the computer lab that warned of punishment if anyone was caught on MySpace). I asked him why his school was strict and he responded by telling me that it was because they were the best school and they had standards. I asked him what made it the best school and he first started by saying that it was because they were strict and kept people in line, but then reverted course. He told me that in Atlanta, most schools are 60% or more black but his school was only 30% black. And then he noted that this was changing, almost with a sense of sadness. Katlay, on the other hand, was proud of the fact that his school was very racially diverse. He did complain that it was big, so big in fact that they had created separate “schools” (think: Harry Potter) and that he was in the school that was primarily for honors kids but that this meant that he didn’t see all of his friends all the time. But he valued the different types of people who attended. These differences are reflected in their friend groups – Connor’s friends are almost entirely white and well-off while at least half of Katlay’s friends are black and most of his friends are neither well-off nor poor.

Both Katlay and Connor follow the crowd when it comes to social media and their instincts reflect more than just their own beliefs; they reflect what is normative among their cohort.

So going back to the question of age and maturity – why do these dynamics of race and socioeconomic factors matter? One argument made about the differences between teens from wealthy and poor environments is that wealthy teens are much more likely to integrate with adults than teens from poorer backgrounds. (There are obviously exceptions on all sides.) Now, Connor is not exceedingly wealthy and Katlay is not poor, but I can’t help but wonder how much of what they’re reflecting is part of that more general trend.

Will Katlay begin to embrace adults alongside his peers in a few years? Perhaps, but I doubt it. Might their differences be simply a personality thing? Perhaps, but I saw these dynamics occur across many other pairings of teens with similar differences and similarities.

Regardless of whether or not this factor explains the differences between these teens, I can’t help but wonder the significance of teens’ willingness to interact with known adults on social network sites. There’s nothing worse than demanding that teens accept adults in their peer space, but there’s a lot to be said for teens who embrace adults there, especially non-custodial adults like youth pastors and “cool” teachers. I strongly believe that the healthiest environment we can create online is one where teens and trusted adults interact seamlessly. To the degree that this is not modeled elsewhere in society.

when I started Skype app in my android phone, It denied logging in & come up with a security message that said “Skype android app is facing security Bug , So backup your data ASAP.” So, I started digging in to the issue and found out that this unsecured app was their from October 2010 in the Android marketplace. 

What exactly was the security flaw? 

Skype app was storing a data in to unsecured & unencrypted format. And any other app can access data from that android phone. Personal data that includes all contacts, messages, Chat data, call histories & even your Skype credit. It was like everything inside Skype was pretty vulnerable.
AndroidPolice.com has first noticed this issue & tried to access the data from other app & they succeeded the attempt. Instantly they wrote a blog post saying Skype is facing serious security issue. It spread all over web instantly & Skype said they will work on it ASAP.

They worked out pretty faster & last day they released this security update for android app. Now company stated on blog that the user personal data is well secured & requested to download the android app only form the android marketplace or Skype official website.

Speedy VLANs

IT managers are always looking for ways to do their jobs more efficiently, while still providing the quality of service that their clients expect. Virtual LAN technology (VLAN) can help them on both fronts, by easing administrative chores and improving enterprise network performance. VLANs allow IT managers to group users and resources in any way they like, regardless of the physical LAN segment to which those resources are attached. An organization may want to group all users in the marketing department on the same
VLAN with the servers that host the applications and data they use most often, for example. The users who belong to that marketing group may be spread throughout a building, or even the country, but they can still belong to the same VLAN.
This type of flexibility in grouping users and resources stands in stark contrast to the days when IT managers were restricted to grouping resources solely by the port to which they were connected. Any changes to the network configuration required a visit to one or more wiring closets to physically move the user or resource from one port to another.With VLANs, such changes can be performed in software, from a central administrative console, thus greatly improving efficiency. At the same time, VLANs can be used to improve network
performance in a number of ways – by grouping users that communicate often with one another on the same VLAN, for example, or by creating a VLAN for use by “power users” that tend to consume a lot of network bandwidth.
VLANs are most suitable for mid- to large size companies, but even smaller companies with highly demanding users may benefit. Essentially, any organization with a network large enough that it needs to be segmented in some fashion can benefit.



When they first came on the scene in the mid 1990s, there were three basic ways to build a VLAN on any given switch or router. The port-based model called for assigning each router or switch port to a specific VLAN. Ports 1-5, for example, might be the engineering VLAN, while ports 6-10 belong to the marketing
VLAN. Some ports may be assigned to more than one VLAN, such as a port that connects a server used by multiple groups. Administrators could make changes to port and VLAN assignments from a central console, rather than physically pulling and rearranging wires. If a repeater was attached to any port, however, all the devices connected to that repeater must belong to the same VLAN. Another approach was to assign resources to VLANs based on their unique media access control (MAC) address. The switch or router supporting the VLAN maintained a list detailing which MAC addresses belong to which VLAN, and routed
traffic accordingly based on the source or destination MAC address. The drawbacks to this method included the time required to assign each MAC address to a given VLAN. Assigning the same MAC address to multiple VLANs could also wreak havoc with bridges and routers, making it difficult to share server resources among separate VLANs. Layer 3-based VLANs group resources according to the protocol and Layer 3 address they employ. In this fashion, all IP or IPX traffic can be assigned to its own VLAN, or perhaps all wireless LAN and Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic. The Layer 3 approach also enables all non-routable protocols to share a VLAN, thus limiting the effect of broadcasts on the rest of the network, improving performance for all users.
